During the session the Arno River Basin presented a solution to adapt to climate chagne  i.e the environmental  project “WIZ – Waterize Spatial Planning: Drinking Water Management Conditions to Adapt to Climate Change and Water Scarcity and Drought”. Wiz is an environmental programme co-financed by the European Union. It aims at assessing long and short term water availability so that water data and environmental and infrastructural costs can be taken into consideration during the spatial planning process. This happens mainly through the creation of an IT platform usuful for  local authorities that will be involved in decision making. Municipalities, regions and all decision makers that are involved in spatial planning will be able to take their decision on the basin of on-line information on water demand, infrastructures’ estimated cost and all other relevant information concerning water resources. It integrates long term analysis regarding water supply management into spatial planning and creates a platform that can be used by local authorities to trigger a knoweledge enabled decision making.
