Home / European Action For Worldwide Universal Access to Water and Sanitation: Fostering mechanisms of solidarity.

The United Nations recently recognized the access to safe drinking water and sanitation as a universal human right. Indeed, more than one million peple live without access to drinking water and 2.6 billion without access to basic sanitation.

This session focussed on  the possibility of implementing solidarity mechanisms in order to improve the above described situation with a specific focus on multi-level governance solutions to generate funds for decentralized cooperation activities. The trialogue was coordinated by PS-EAU.

Kristallina Georgieva, European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response participated to the session
